Artificial Intelligence-Enabled Business Model Innovation: Competencies and Roles of Top Management

Research in artificial intelligence and business model innovation is flourishing. Nevertheless, the current discussion lacks an overarching understanding of, thus has not sufficiently addressed, interface between intelligence-enabled critical role of top management. Although a paradigm shift affecting management already occurring, extant literature limited, especially terms primary research. Accordingly, this study explores how can encourage facilitate innovation. We utilized inductive approach conducted semistructured interviews with 47 practitioners to develop grounded theory. The developed framework consists five competencies eight roles. Overall, our contributes research theory, revealing that requires specific skill set carry out their roles fulfill expectations.
